Cotton Crochet Dish Towel

For a dish towel, I make mine approximately 15″ x 21″.  I use a H crochet hook, and cotton thread.

For this tutorial I used 2 balls of Bernat Handicrafter Delux Cotton Rustic Grey.

Directions:

Chain 50, turn and single crochet in second chain from hook, and continue single crochets all of the way across.  At the end, you should have 49 single crochet stitches.

The remaining rows consist of alternating half-double crochet and single crochet, all of the way across.  At the beginning of a row that you start with half-double crochet, chain 2 to start the row, and place a half-double crochet in the second chain from the hook.  For a row that starts with single crochet, chain 1, and start in the second chain from the hook.  I randomly chose if I wanted to start with a single or half-double crochet at the beginning of the rows.

Put a border of Double Crochets around the towel to finish it off.  In the corners, place 3 Double Crochet to allow the project to lay flat.

Connect the two stitches by doing a slip stitch in the top of the Double Crochet at the beginning of the border.

It is Finished!
